VIDEOS: Spider-Man, God of War and Days Gone

Sony’s relatively light array of new titles at its E3 show in the early hours of this morning does no detract from the strong catalogue of games already in development.

Insomniac’s Spider-Man is perhaps the most anticipated of the bunch, and the new gameplay video below shows an action sequence worthy of any of the (many, many) Hollywood Spidey outings.

We now know that Wilson ‘Kingpin’ Fisk will feature, along with a mix of timing-based close and ranged combat, as well as opportunities for stealth. The action sequence itself, which sees the Webbed Wonder attempting to save the public from the escalating threat of a crashing helicopter, was pretty heavy on the QTEs (quick time events), but still looked absolutely thrilling.

There was also more from the new God of War, whose adoption of an over-the-shoulder camera gives it a different feel to previous entries in the series. The father-son relationship between Kratos and his boy takes centre stage here. It’s due for release in early 2018.

Also shown off was more of zombie title Days Gone, which continues to look very The Last of Us 2-ish. In the video below we see silent takedowns, setting traps and, most menacingly, a feasting zombie hoard. The latter are eventually set on a rival gang on distinctly un-undead humans, which doesn’tr really seem in the spirit of things.

There was more Uncharted, too, in the form of some new footage from standalone release Uncharted: The Lost Legacy. Rounding off the selection was some new footage from David Cage’s Detroit, which looks to scratch that sci-fi itch. It should also appeal to those who like their games with a healthy dose of personable characters and a cinematic feel.
