Sony claims that Stateside sales of PlayStation Vita and its launch games have been "exceptional".
The handheld debuted in the US on Wednesday, February 22nd - the same day it launched in the UK and Europe.
While specific US sales figures have yet to be given, SCEA's corporate communications boss Patrick Seybold reiterated that Vita has sold more than 1.2m units around the world since launch, according to VG247.
"After months of anticipation, the US launch of PlayStation Vita saw overwhelming enthusiasm amongst gamers, resulting in exceptional hardware, software and peripherals sales," he said.
"Customer satisfaction rates are very high and momentum will cotninue as gamers get their hands on a deep line-up of blockbuster titles."

I await the actual figures with baited breath. It would be a shame to see such an amazing handheld fall by the historical wayside.
