Vivendi earnings grow 109 per cent

Overall net income for Vivendi Group, which includes Universal Music Group and Canal Plus, increased by 41 per cent to E707 million for the quarter, causing the firm to raise its earning expectations to a predicted eight to ten per cent rise through the year ahead.

A report from Vivendi stated: "This dramatic improvement was driven by a growth in revenues, with an increased proportion relating to the higher margin of World of Warcraft business.”

Soon after the results were announced, Reuter’s news agency reported that Vivendi had rejected a break-up offer by shareholder Sebastian Holdings, though Vivendi denies receiving such an offer.
