British games studio Swordfish is close to being acquired by the US arm of Vivendi Universal Games.
MCV understands that an official announcement could be made within the next 48 hours, as VUG continues a recent surge of activity which has already swallowed up Radical Entertainment and Swingin' Ape Studios.
Formed out of the ashes of Rage Birmingham in September 2002, Swordfish boasts around 50 staff. It scored the last ever UK hit for Acclaim with World Championship Rugby 12 months ago and last week hit the PS2 Top 10 with Cold Winter for VUG.
Swordfish is also currently working on Rugby '06 for Hip Interactive and the latest Brian Lara Cricket for Codemasters.
