Warcraft boost for VU

In the second quarter, VU Games enjoyed operating earnings of €2 million, compared to a loss of €120 in the second quarter 2004. However, investors had expected a better performance due to the popularity of World of Blizzard’s title.

Chief executive Jean-Bernard Levy stated: “Vivendi Universal is in great shape and reflects its potential in a now stable environment.”

Overall, the Vivendi Universal media group, which also houses music, telecom and television divisions, boasted net earnings of €640 million in the second quarter, up from €182 million in the same period of 2004. It also said that it would surpass its income target for all of 2005.
