White PSP and Platinum UMD for Europe

From May 15th gamers will be able to buy the previously Japan-only edition of the handheld for E249, with an expected price of £179.99 in the UK. The machine will come in the usual Value Pack bundle including a charger, 32MB memory stick, headphones, remote control, wrist strap and pouch.

Sony also unveiled a line of Platinum titles, which will arrive at retail from June. Retailing for £19.99, or E24.99 on the continent, the range will include first party titles such as Everybody’s Golf, WRC, F1 Grand Prix, Pursuit Force and Ridge Racer, along with a number of third party offerings.

In other announcements, a range of interactive city guides called Planet PSP are being produced in conjunction with Lonely Planet. The initial offering will include separate versions for Amsterdam, Barcelona, London, Paris, Prague and Rome and are due to arrive this autumn.

Finally, the successful Japanese wi-fi hotspot scheme Playstation Spot is to get its European debut. PlayStation Spot is a small self-contained device that broadcasts peer-to-peer wi-fi signals from which users can download PSP specific content. 300 spots will be established across Europe in the coming weeks.
