Wi-Fi Vita claims 79% of sales

The Wi-Fi version of the PlayStation Vita accounted for 79 per cent of the machine’s launch week sales, Chart-Track has revealed.

That left the higher priced 3G SKU with 21 per cent of Vita’s week one sales.

MCV is unable to publish hardware sales numbers or allude to how they compare to 3DS.

There were 23 Vita games on shelves at the console’s launch which compares favourably with the 16 that joined 3DS in its first week. However, two games – Uncharted and FIFA Football – grabbed 50 per cent of overall Vita software sales.

Nine Vita games hit the Top 40 in total, lead by this week’s no.1 (Uncharted: Golden Abyss) and no.2 (FIFA Football).

These were followed by Rayman Origins (5th), Wipeout 2048 (11th), F1 2011 (22nd), Ridge Racer (28th), Virtua Tennis 4: World Edition (30th), Everybody’s Golf (32nd) and Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3 (33rd).
