Wii wrist strap injuries: Nintendo investigates

Next-gen.biz is reporting that some gamers have complained that the strap comes loose during play, leading to the remote flying out of their hands and causing injury or damage to their surroundings.

“We are investigating,” Iwata told the foreign correspondents Club in Tokyo. “Some people are getting a lot more excited than we’d expected. We need to better communicate to people how to deal with Wii as a new form of entertainment.”

Despite extensive warnings within the games themselves, this could prove to be an unforseen problem for Nintendo’s new console, which launches in Europe tomorrow (08/12/06).

And following on from talk of beating financial targets earlier this week, Iwata went on to say: “I’m not ruling that out entirely, but it’s premature to say it now.”
