WWE gaming returns under Take-Two with WWE 2K14

Take-Two has entered into a multi-year partnership with WWE to create games based on the pro-wrestling franchise under the 2K Sports label.

WWE games will continue to be developed by long-time WWE developer Yukes in Japan, but will now carry 2K Sports signature nomenclature. This year’s game will be called WWE 2K14.

Take-Two took over the WWE license after previous licensor THQ went out of business.

“We look forward to capturing the excitement of WWE and marrying it with the same commitment to authenticity and entertainment that we give to our NBA 2K and MLB 2K franchises,” 2K COO David Ismailer said.

“Fans can expect the most authentic WWE experience on game consoles this fall,” 2K Sports vice president Greg Thomas added.

WWE 2K14 is scheduled for release in “autumn” 2013, which we assume is the August to October window. 2K has said that the game will be available on consoles, but didn’t specify which ones.
