Xbox 360 Slim costs £199

The first UK retail listings for the Xbox 360 Slim have gone live with a pre-order price of 199, mirroring Microsoft’s promise that the new design will cost the same as the existing hardware.

Play.com is the first UK retailer to begin taking orders on the unit, but expect others to follow suit in the coming hours.

GAME operated websites have yet to start listing the new model.

However, there’s little sign yet of a UK price drop to mirror that seen in the US as Microsoft tries to clear existing stock to make way for the new model.

HMV, however, is offering the Xbox 360 Elite for 179.99, suggesting that the UK might be set for a 20 drop on older models. Argos has also slashed 20 off the price of the Xbox 360 Arcade.

Microsoft has also confirmed a planned launch for a cheaper version of the unit. If that follows the same pricing pattern expect it to retail for 159 in place of the outgoing Arcade model.
