Microsoft’s annual firmware update for its Xbox 360 console will be rolled out on August 11th, according to reports from Joystiq.
Firmware is the term for embedded software that controls the innards of a device – in the same way that Windows dictates how your PC organises and runs itself, the firmware on a console, mobile phone or any other device does more or less the same.
The latest update doesn’t represent a complete redesign in the way that last year’s ‘New Xbox Experience’ did, it does bring a number of new features including unlockable avatar extras and games ratings.
