Xbox Facebook/Twitter age restriction lifted

Microsoft’s Major Nelson has confirmed that Xbox 360 users below the age of 18 and based outside the US are now able to use the console’s social networking features – as long as said features are enabled under the parental control settings.

Until now the services had been locked to all users below adult age, regardless of parental preferences.

With this update, as promised, if you have a child account and you get parental approval, you’ll be able to have access to these applications,” he explained on his blog.

At this point, all non-US accounts should have access to them at this time. If you have a child account in the US, you will receive this update on December 15th, when these applications will appear in your Xbox 360 dashboard.

Thanks for your patience as we worked to develop the best solution to ensure that we are able to offer an age-appropriate environment for everyone on Xbox Live.”
