Xbox has shipped 1m Elite controllers

Microsoft’s premium, pricey and customisable Xbox One Elite gamepad appears to be doing well for itself.

Xbox boss Phil Spencer tweeted (below) that the company has shipped one million of these controllers. While, of course, this does not mean that Microsoft has sold one million of the Elite gamepads, it does indicate that the peripheral has been rather popular.

The Elite Controller was announced on-stage at Microsoft’s E3 press event, before launching on October.

The firm said in November that the accessory would be in short supply until December, while UK marketing boss Harvey Eagle told MCV that the demand had been ‘overwelming’.

Incidentally, Seamus Blackey, one of the team that created the original Xbox recently tweeted some of the concepts for that console’s controller (bottom). Some of them are – to say the least – strange.
