Xbox One release date confirmed

The Xbox One has, at long last, got a confirmed global release date.

The machine will be released on November 22nd in the UK and US. That means it will arrive AFTER the PS4 in America (November 15th) but BEFORE it in Europe (November 29th).

November 22nd is also the release date for Australia, Austria, Brazil, Canada, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Mexico, New Zealand and Spain.

That’s eight years to the day since Xbox 360 was released in North America.

To celebrate the news Microsoft has today made an additional allocation of the Xbox One Day One Edition available to pre-order at retail.

The company has also revealed that European pre-orders for Xbox One climbed 220 per cent in Europe following the machine’s E3 presentation.

We hit an important milestone as we began full production of the Xbox One console recently,” Xbox VP of marketing, strategy and business Yusuf Mehdi said.

The culmination of many years of listening to you, our fans, developing innovative technology, and partnering with the best game and entertainment partners in the industry has brought us to this point. There is still a lot more work to do, but the teams are making excellent progress and are focused on launch.

We are humbled and gratified by the tremendous interest in Xbox One from game fans everywhere. We sold out of our pre-order supply faster than at any other time in our history and we are on path to have the biggest launch of an Xbox ever. We look forward to celebrating with millions and millions of gamers this holiday.”
