Xbox One sells 3m units worldwide

Microsoft’s Xbox One has surpassed 3m units sold.

Xbox corporate vice president Yusuf Mehdi revealed the figure yesterday as part of a press announcement, stating that the new console had sold through 3m units across 13 countries prior to the start of the new year.

"It’s been incredible to see Xbox One selling at a record-setting pace for Xbox, and we were honored to see Xbox One become the fastest-selling console in the U.S. during our launch month in November,” Mehdi wrote.

Since our launch, demand for Xbox One has been strong, selling out throughout the holidays at most retailers worldwide. We are continuing to work hard to deliver additional consoles to retailers as fast as possible.”

The press note also mentioned that more Xbox data will be unveiled as part of the company’s earnings announcement on January 23rd.

Earlier this week, a US analyst claimed Sony’s PS4 had a slight momentum edge” over Xbox One. The news also arrives a day after Microsoft pledged Xbox One’s UI will be refined” based on customer feedback.
