Xbox ties with MCV for football tournament

A revamped games industry five-a-side football tournament is coming this summer – with free entry for all teams.

Microsoft’s Xbox 360 division is supporting the traditional MCV Gamesfives event, with an increase in scale, rivalry and pan-industry participation promised.

The tournament will take place at the Barnet Powerleague venue, North London on Friday June 29th.

Teams can enter for free, plus there will be free drink and a fine array of Xbox 360 prizes.

“We are already responsible for the largest five-a-side football tournament in the UK in form of the Xbox 5s,” said Microsoft’s head of entertainment and gaming Stephen McGill.

“Along with MCV, we can bring an event to the industry which allows everyone in the games business to get together and have some fun.”

Retailers, distributors, publishers, suppliers and media are all expected to participate.

“With support from Xbox 360, the Gamesfives will be a bigger, better tournament than ever before,” added MCV managing editor Lisa Foster.
