Yoichi Wada steps down as chairman of Square Enix

Square Enix’s Yoichi Wada has concluded his tenure as chairman, with the executive planning to work more in depth with the company’s subsidiary Shinra Technologies.

A representative at Shinra Technologiesconfirmeda report byVG247that Wada will leave his post to focus entirely on the cloud-gaming subsidiary.

Wada himself established Shinra Technologies in 2014 to build cloud gaming technology with third-party studios. The rep stated the plan for Wada to step down as chairman and transition to working entirely on the subsidiary has been in the works for some time.

Wada joined Square Enix (known as Squaresoft at the time) in 2000 and was later named CEO in the same year. Hestepped down from the positionin 2013, and would eventually assume the role of company chairman.
