Zapak Mobile racks up 100 million Nokia Store downloads

Zapak Mobile has crossed the 100 million game downloads milestone on the Nokia Store, the company has announced.

Of the 350-plus games offered by Zapak on the Nokie Store, 22 racked up over a million downloads, including Chhota Bheem Racing, Ninja Strike, ICC Cricket World Cup 2011, WWE Raw, and Ben 10 Ultimate Alien.

We are elated to have witnessed the milestone of a 100 million downloads of our games on the Nokia Store that positions us at No. 1 in India on the store,” Zapak Digital Entertainment’s India business head Chaitanya Prabhu said, adding, The Nokia Store has always been a great platform to partner with and we look forward to many more milestones in times to come.”

More than half the 100 million downloads came from India (57.4 million). Elsewhwere, over 4 million downloads came from Vietnam and Pakistan, 3 million were from Indonesia, while Thailand accounted for 2.7 million downloads.

India is the largest publisher of apps on the Nokia Store, which comprises mostly Java-based games and apps for feature phones.

India is big on gaming today and gaming app downloads are growing at a robust rate. Being the largest app store in the country, Nokia store witnesses over 80 million downloads per month of which gaming is one of the most popular categories. Zapak Mobile Games’ relevant and engaging content has successfully tapped the preferences of the young Indian consumers and they are hooked on to it with great excitement, said Nokia India’s head of developer experience Gerard Rego.

Zapak’s 100 million downloads milestone comes a couple of months after DisneyUTV Digital announced that it crossed the 200 million mark on the Nokia Store.
