Carmageddon: Reincarnation is next-gen bound after Stainless secures more funds

Stainless Games has confirmed intentions to bring Carmageddon: Reincarnation to next-gen consoles.

The game had already been confirmed for PC after successfully raising in excess of $625k on Kickstarter, but now an additional round of funding totalling $3.5m has seen plans expanded.

"We are delighted to have fully funded Carmageddon: Reincarnation without having to go outside of the collective of our own company, shareholders and fans,” Stainless CEO and co-founder Patrick Buckland stated.

It allows us to maintain a true independence and creative control whilst not having to compromise quality or content by budgetary constraints. For an independent, privately owned company to achieve this, is a testament to our strength and to the loyalty of our fans."

The game is of course a successor to 1997’s Carmageddon, which was also developed by Stainless. Back then the release was met with a huge level of controversy, with some territories (including the UK) forcing the studio to replace pedestrians and blood with zombies and green goo.

The game was eventually released in the UK in its unedited form.
