‘Cash-free’ Football Manager media blitz hailed

The studio behind Football Manager 2008 has heralded the series’ ‘best ever’ presence in the UK media – and revealed that no cash was spent on securing the exemplary editorial coverage.

The game nabbed the top spot in ChartTrack’s All Format listing last week, becoming one of the ten fastest-selling PC games of all time.

And Sports Interactive MD Miles Jacobson has applauded commercial partners and the national media for giving the title so much strong coverage.

FM2008 has been featured on Talksport, as well as gaining month-long coverage in The Observer and further editorial in the News Of The World. The title is also set to feature in Premiership club magazines and football-related programmes such as Soccer AM.

In addition, Coke Zero is to offer consumers a free downloadable demo giveaway on special promotional packs over the next few months.

None of it has cost us a penny, even the Coke Zero deal,” Jacobson told MCV. We’ve been more active with PR for FM2008 than in any previous year – and we’ve been rewarded with our best ever coverage. The different media we’ve appeared in understand what Football Manager means to football fans.”
