Castlevania boss leaves Konami

17-year Konami veteran Dave Cox has left the Japanese publisher.

Cox is best known for his work on the Castlevania series of games, and was in charge of the recent Lords of Shadow series of games.

Lords of Shadow was a great return to form for the Castlevania series. Its 3DS follow-up was also pretty good. This year’s third game didn’t quite live up to the first two, but was still a decent title.

As spotted by Videogamer, Cox tweeted: "After seventeen years I have decided to leave Konami to explore new opportunities.

"Today is my final day with the company #endofanera"

"I joined the company in 1997 as a UK product manager and my first title to manage was Castlevania: Symphony of the Night… I never imagined in my wildest dreams that I would be given the opportunity to lead the development of a Castlevania

"I never imagined it would become the best selling Castlevania game in the series history either.

He added: "I want to thank Konami for the opportunity and all those people who supported me and the team on our journey."

Cox will announce where he is doing next after a brief break from games.
