Commodore 64 arrives on Virtual Console

The latest format to join Nintendo’s Virtual Console service arrives today in the shape of classic 1980’s home computer the Commodore 64.

Two C64 titles are available to download from today – classic fighter International Karate and 2D shooter Uridium.

The C64 was first released in 1982 and went on to sell an impressive 30 million units, despite still competition form the likes of the Sinclair ZX Spectrum and the Amstrad CPC 464.

Part of its success was credited to the decision to sell the machine through mainstream department stores rather than just in electrical specialists. The machine was not discontinued until Commodore went bust in 1994.
