Dark Souls II and 3DS win March chart battles in Japan

From Software’s Dark Souls II was the best selling game in Japan throughout March, the latest Famitsu data reveals.

It sold over 309k units, which was 100k more than its closest rival Mario Party Island Tour.

The 3DS was the month’s best-selling console with unit sales of over 188k units ahead of the 169k units shifted by Sony’s PS4.

3DS title Mario Party Island Tour was the best selling game of the last week. There’s a new entry for Just Dance Wii U in third. The 3DS and Vita both outsold PS4 last week, although all formats suffered a drop in sales following the increase of VAT in Japan. Wii U, 3DS XL and Vita sales fell almost 50 per cent.
