Deutsche Gamestage renamed International Games Week Berlin

Taking place from April 8th to April 13th, the festival will now be called International Games Week Berlin and will concentrate of games development around the world.

Games Week will serve as a networking opportunity for publishers, investors, developers and other industry representatives, and will have a stronger emphasis on public events this year.

The flagship event will be German games meeting Quo Vadis, which runs from April 8th to 10th. More than 2,000 trade visitors are expected to attend this networking event, which will also feature over 140 speakers discussing key industry trends.

April 9th to 11th will see the third iteration of independent games festival Amaze, giving people the chance to experience some of the more creative games in the works. The best will be honoured during the Amaze awards.

"The new umbrella brand incorporates the successful elements of the well-organised Deutsche Gamestage and develops them further with all of the actors in the region," said Elmar Giglinger, MD of organisers Medienboard Berlin-Brandenburg.

"The games industry is a global player and, with the Games Week, we become even more global in the capital region of Berlin-Brandenburg."
