Downloading Ubisoft’s free game for AC: Unity owners removes right to sue

Ubisoft’s free game offer for Assassin’s Creed: Unity Season Pass holders comes with a hefty caveat.

As spotted by Joystiq, anyone downloading a free title – which was offered to Season pass holders as recompense for the game’s troubled launch – must agree to a document that says the user irrevocably and unconditionally release, waive, and forever discharge and covenant not to sue Ubisoft Entertainment”.

Effectively, this protects Ubisoft from any legal action over the state of Assassin’s Creed: Unity, the likes of which has recently hit Sony’s PS4 launch title Killzone: Shadow Fall.

Late last month Ubisoft pulled the AC: Unity Season pass from sale, offering free game content to all and a free download of either The Crew, Far Cry 4, Watch Dogs, Assassin’s Creed 4: Black Flag, Rayman Legends or Just Dance 2015 for those who had already paid up.
