Job post implies the studio is now working on a â??most prestigious AAA franchiseâ? following months of layoffs

Downsized Crystal Dynamics brought back to life with â??AAA projectâ??

Though Square Enix-owned Crystal Dynamics has been, in recent times, associated with nothing beyond mass layoffs [Jan/June], new signs of life have emerged from the Californian developer with a job vacancy posting that says the studio is working in a ‘AAA’ title.

Not just a AAA title, but "one of the most prestigious AAA franchises in the industry", as described on company job listing.

This would immediately suggest the company is still working on the Tomb Raider franchise, though this has not been confirmed by Square Enix or Crystal Dynamics.

The sustainability of Crystal Dynamics has, in the past six months, been thrown into doubt.

The developer’s most recent game, Tomb Raider Underworld, sold underneath Eidos’ expectations, with the publisher implying the Tomb Raider franchise may need to be reinvented to remain competitive.

There was no sign of new projects at Crystal Dynamics sincethe studio suffered its initial round of layoffs in January, and little was said of the fate of the developer during Square Enix’s acquisition of Eidos.
