Gina Jackson and Byron Atkinson-Jones join GamesAid as board trustees

The UK games industry charity GamesAid has announced two new trustees to the board, Gina Jackson and Byron Atkinson-Jones.

Gina Jackson is a veteran of the games industry, starting as a producer in 1992, where she worked for a string of companies involving Ocean Software and Nokia, before moving into business development with work for Kuju and Eidos.

Jackson is now the head of games at The Imaginarium, Andy Serkis’ product company. She’s also a visiting professor for games industry and business at Norwich University of the Arts.

Gina said in a press release: “It’s fantastic to join such a passionate group of Trustees who work with the UK games industry to raise significant funds for charities. Whether that’s through personal bravery, like Byron doing stand-up at the Comedy Store, making GamesAid DLC, or coming along to the London Games Festival’s fringe ‘Dark Room’, this is a truly special charity and I’m humbled to be part of the team.”

Byron Atkinson-Jones is an indie game designer and developer, who has worked with EA, Rebellion, Lionshead, Sports Interactive, Mediatonic and others. This year he’ll be one of the amateur acts at this year’s ‘StandUp for GamesAid’ event.

Byron added: “I’ve always been a big fan of GamesAid and the work they do to raise money for Children’s charities, so I always try to raise money for them whenever I can. Who knew that one moment I’d be doing stand-up comedy for GamesAid and the next they would be asking me to become a Trustee! It’s a massive honour and I can’t wait to get started.”
