Hip-hop star Nas to feature in Microsoft TV series

Microsoft’s Xbox Entertainment Studios is making a TV series about the life of rapper Nas.

Deadline reports that the Electric City Entertainment produced show is called Street Dreams and is being written and directed by Jonathan Levine.

It’s set in Long Island, New York and will last half an hour. Its release will coincide with the 20th anniversary of Nas’ debut album Illmatic.

Microsoft has previously linked with a number of possible TV projects for its Xbox Entertainment Studios, the most notable of which was a reboot for ill-fated NBC show Heroes.

The platform holder has also been linked with moves to try and integrate the Xbox into Sky’s set-top boxes, although the Murdoch broadcaster subsequently denied the reports.
