Holly Walsh to host Games Media Awards next month

Holly Walsh is to host this year’s Games Media Awards, which take place on October 15th in central London.

Walsh is an established stand-up comic and writer for TV and radio.

As well as penning sitcoms and her own shows has appeared on the likes of 8 Out of 10 Cats, Never Mind the Buzzcocks, Would I Lie To You? and Mock The Week.

Holly is the perfect choice to host the GMAs this year,” said Michael French, publisher of Intent Media’s games division which includes Develop, MCV, the Games Media Awards and the London Games Conference.

We’ve overhauled the GMAs for 2014, with an updated set of categories, much improved judging process and a new venue – and now we can add a hugely-respected host to that list of additions.”

The GMAs take place on October 15th at the Bloomsbury Ballroom.

10 different prizes will be awarded to the best of the best in games media, including nods for specialised work in news, features and games critiques, plus work on radio/podcasts and video, and overall team prizes for online and print outlets. There are two special awards: Gamers’Choice is voted for consumers while Journalists’ Journalist is voted for on the night by the attendant media.

Judging for each award is currently underway, with the shortlists of finalists announced on the morning of Monday September 29th.
