Viral specialist expands platform remit

Matmi looking to console development

Viral and branded gaming developer and publisher Matmi has told CasualGaming.biz that it is looking at creating titles for the console formats.

Matmi revealed its plans when speaking to CasualGaming.biz in an interview about the studio’s forthcoming presentation at the Develop Conference. The company is also looking to expand its unbranded offering.

"We are looking into producing games for other platforms such as the Xbox and Wii. Matmi are digital designers and game makers. We love getting users to engage with our work. If we think a platform is viable for us or our clients we will get stuck in," said Matmi founder and creative director Jeff Coghlan.

Speaking about the merits of the Matmi iPhone game Monster Pinball, Coghlan added: "This isn’t the first non-branded game we have made, but it is the first we have made on the iPhone. We are already producing more games for the iPhone; some of them will be non-branded, others sponsored and others will be advergames."

Coghlan is to present a session at the casual gaming-focused Evolve strand of next week’s Develop Conference, titled ‘‘Infectious: How viral games capture an audience of millions’.
