Microtransactions added to Forza Horizon 3

Forza Horizon 3 players now have the option of buying cars with real cash instead of earning it in game.

A new range of microtransactions starts at 79p – that gets you 100 tokens. This then steps up to 2.49 (325 tokens), 4.19 (575), 8.39 (1,250), 16.74 (2,700), 41.74 (8,000) and then a whopping 83.49 (20,000).

One token equates to around 500 in-game credits. As PCGamesN points out, the most expensive car in the game – the Alfa Romeo 33 Stradale – costs 10m credits. That’s all 20,00 of your 80 tokens right there.

Of course the vast majority of in-game vehicles are considerably cheaper.

We’ve seen similar purchase systems in previous Forza games and there is absolutely nothing forcing players to use them. Saying that, the normal rate of in-game progression is quite slow, although it is sped up a little for those who payed extra for VIP membership.

Forza Horizon 3’s first expansion, Blizzard Mountain, was released earlier this month.
