Daniel Kim to relocate to South Korea to take on other duties within the company

Nexon America appoints SVP as new CEO

Online gaming company Nexon America has promoted its SVP as its new CEO to replace the outgoing Daniel Kim.

Min Kim, who is credited with helping to establish Nexon in the US as well as the release of its flagship title MapleStory, will take on leadership duties from September 1st.

Current CEO Daniel Kim is set to move back to Seoul in South Korea to take on another role within the company, although specific details have yet to be revealed.

“We thank Daniel for his many contributions and leadership in North America, and look forward to leveraging his talents in Korea to help continue to grow Nexon’s business,” said Nexon CEO Seungwoo Choi.

“Looking ahead, Nexon is extremely well-positioned to capture the growth opportunities in North America enabled by the on-going proliferation of high-speed broadband and the increasing popularity of the free-to-play business model.

“Min has been with Nexon America from the beginning and brings exceptional expertise, industry depth and leadership to this role. He is the right person to lead Nexon America forward.”
