Pure Chess dated for Wii U and 3DS; Features smartphone cross-play

Ripstone has confirmed that Pure Chess will be available on the Nintendo eShop later this month.

The game launches on the Wii U and 3DS digital stores on March 20th with a price tag of 4.99.

The title also features a cross-platform play system that allows 3DS and Wii U players compete against Pure Chess players on iPad, iPhone and Android devices.

Due out last year, developer Ripstone says the introduction of the cross-play system was responsible for the delay.

"Cross-platform play was a feature we all wanted to see in the game, but we underestimated the effort and technicalities involved with getting it right," said creative director Phil Gaskell. "We think the delay has been worth it, and can’t wait for players on all different devices to begin issuing challenges."
