QV Software scores Dead Island as exclusive

QV Software (QVS) has acquired the distribution rights to Dead Island for Australia and New Zealand.

The controversial Techland-developed game will be one of QVS’ biggest ever releases.

CEO Paul Elliot said: As a company, we take pride in aligning ourselves with market leading publishers and exciting brands and products. Acquiring the rights to Dead Island through our partnership with Koch Media has been very exciting for us. It is without a doubt one of the company’s biggest titles to date."

Bringing a title this overtly violent to Australian shores, however, carries a risk of it being refused classification by the Australian Classification Board, so the news that Dead Island passed at MA15+ came as a relief to the QVS team.

Omar Braery, marketing manager for QVS, commented: We were always cautiously confident of it passing the classification process and we are thrilled with the result. It is especially satisfying to know that the Australian gaming community will get to experience the game without edits."

Dead Island will be available on PS3, 360 and PC in Australia and New Zealand on September 9th.
