One shock announcement to emerge from Microsoft’s Tokyo Game Show press conference was that cult shooter Radiant Silvergun is scheduled for a surprise release on Xbox Live Arcade.
The Treasure-developed game was previously released in both the arcades and on Sega Saturn in 1998, though was never published outside of Japan.
It has since become one of the most collectible titles in the history of gaming , regularly fetching in excess of 100 online.
XBLA already plays host to Treasure’s Radiant Silvergun successor Ikaruga, which will soon be joined by a new version of Dreamcast shooter Bangai-O. And Microsoft’s platform is currently the console of choice for cult shmup developer Cave with numerous arcade titles making the move to the machine in Japan.
