Smith-Wright heads down under

Electronic Arts’ hugely popular UK PR director Simon Smith-Wright is moving to the publisher’s Sydney office where he will be regional marketing director for EA Asia Pacific.

Smith-Wright joined the firm in 2005 and was promoted to UK PR director in 2006. Prior to that he made his name as the head of Acclaim’s PR team.

EA’s UK boss Keith Ramsdale told MCV: I’m delighted for Simon. He is taking a great career step and breaking out of PR specialism and into a regional general marketing role. Simon fundamentally changed EA’s approach to PR when he joined us five years ago and EA UK’s loss will be EA Australia’s gain, we will miss him and wish him the very best in the new role and life down under”

Smith-Wright himself added: "I’m really looking forward to the new role. There’s a fantastic team there and some great opportunities for us lie ahead, so I really can’t wait to get stuck in. I will of course miss everyone in the EA UK and all our European teams as well as UK industry friends and colleagues."

He leaves to take up his new position on March 1st. EA has not yet announced a replacement.
