GDC08: Wizards of the Coast chooses UK and US independents for PC, Mac and XBLA titles

Stainless and Mind Control signed for Magic The Gathering games

Collectible card game Magic: The Gathering is coming to Xbox Live, PC and Mac, with owner Wizards of the Coast naming Stainless Games and Mind Control as the developers responsible.

Stainless Games will develop a game using the Magic: The Gathering IP for both Xbox Live Arcade and the PC, while Mind Control will develop a game for the PC and Mac.

Details on the games will be announced at a later date.

UK-based Stainless has been a prolific XBLA developer, working on games it has self-published on the service and titles for Disney and Atari.

American outfit Mind Control, meanwhile has worked on a number of games including Field COmmanding for the PSP.

Jared Gustafson, brand director for Magic: The Gathering at Wizards of the Coast, commented: “It’s partnerships like these that will advance the strategy games category and transform it to meet the needs and desires of today’s digital gamers.”
