Star Wars 1313 could yet see the light of day

Disney has suggested that it could yet greenlight cancelled title Star Wars 1313 for development.

Speaking to SlashFilm, LucasFilm boss Kathleen Kennedy was discussing the pile of materials it has relating to canned Star Wars TV series Star Wars: Underworld. Asked if it had all been binned, she replied:

No. No, interestingly enough, that’s an area we’ve spent a lot of time, reading through the material that he developed is something we very much would like to explore. And there was 1313 the game, where there was….”

At the point the site interjected with enthusiasm about the game’s concept art. The response:

[The art was] unbelievable. So our attitude is, we don’t want to throw any of that stuff away. It’s gold. And it’s something we’re spending a lot of time looking at, pouring through, discussing, and we may very well develop those things further. We definitely want to.”

Star Wars 1313 was unveiled way back in June 2012. The game was a more dark and mature” take on the universe, with players assuming the role of a bounty hunter on Coruscant.

However, the game was killed off in early 2013 following Disney’s acquisition of LucasFilm and closure of LucasArts. It was later claimed that the game had prior to its demise been reimagined as a Boba Fett adventure. Disney declined to renew the 1313 trademark last year.

Voice actor Nolan North this summer likened 1313 to EA’s still mysterious in-development Star Wars title that is being handled by Uncharted writer Amy Hennig and Assassin’s Creed developer Jade Raymond.
