ImGui now available via GitHub

Tearaway GUI tech goes free

The GUI technology behind Media Molecule’s Tearaway has now been made available to all developers for free.

ImGui is described as a “bloat-free graphical user interface library” for C++. It is geared towards games and console applications, and can be also be used to create data browsers, debuggers, profiles and other “non-trivial tools”.

The tech was created by former Media Molecule employee Omar Cornut and used in the PlayStation Vita hit Tearaway. Cornut has since expanded on the tool and made it available via GitHub.

“ImGui is designed to enable fast iteration and empower programmers to create content creation tools and visualization/debug tools – as opposed to UI for the average end-user,” he writes on the tool’s GitHub page. “It favors simplicity and productivity toward this goal, and thus lacks certain features normally found in more high-level libraries.”

A demo is also available for Windows.
