Game equity investment firm picks up veteran games attorney as chief legal officer

Video Game Bar Association’s Patrick Sweeney joins Digital Capital

Digital Capital has picked up veteran video games lawyer Patrick Sweeney as its chief legal officer.

Headquartered in Switzerland, Digital Capital manages private equity investments in the digital entertainment industry and helps pair off developers with interested investors.

With over fifteen years of experience negotiating license and development agreements, Sweeney has helped in the release of over 250 commercial games including The Witcher, Supreme Commander, Day Z, Hawken, and Magic: The Gathering.

He’s also helped his clients obtain access to rights for properties like The Simpsons, Zumba Fitness, and Marvel Comics.

Sweeney will assist Digital Captial in all its legal and business affairs.

“Given his vast experience in the digital entertainment industry, his skillset is a strong asset that will help mitigate our investors’ risk in both our current portfolio as well as future investments,” said Digital Capital co-founderTodd Tribell.

“Patrick will be an integral part of Digital Capital’s senior management team.”

Sweeney is also co-president of the Video Game Bar Association, and a frequent panel and seminar speaker.

His appointment follows that of former EA executive Jonathan Bunney, who recently joined the investment firm as director of marketing.
