Video games TV channel Ginx launches on Virgin Media in the UK

Ginx TV has launched in the UK.

The channel already operates in 40 countries and in ten languages, and now it is targeting 3.5m UK viewers by joining Virgin Media’s TV network.

The channel runs a series of video games shows, including its flagship magazine show, The Blurb, mobile games programme ‘Planet of the Apps’ and the Ginx vault, which looks at retro games. There are current 12 shows in all, including ones specialising in sports, RPG, first person shooting and racing genres.

We are delighted to announce that Virgin Media and Ginx have reached agreement about carriage of the Ginx video gaming TV channel to Virgin’s 3.5 million UK customers," said CEO Michiel Bakker.

"Virgin Media shares our passion for the fast growing universe of gamers and understand they deserve their very own TV channel. Until now, the culture of gaming has been underrepresented by TV. The launch of Ginx bridges this gap and offers both the wider TV audience and the industry a high quality entertainment platform.

"At Ginx we are excited to herald another landmark in our international expansion, which is currently approaching 10 million homes in over 40 countries. We are also proud that, as a UK-based creative enterprise, we have an unparalleled opportunity to continue to work closely with the UK’s vibrant gaming community."
