Video broadcasting service Twitch has signed a new deal to link up with Valve’s digital distribution platform Steam.
Users of both Steam and Twitch can now tie together both of their accounts, allowing players to watch video streams outside of a game.
The news mainly affects DOTA2 players, who will become eligible for tournament item drops while watching a Twitch stream, as long as they own a ticket for that competition.
Valve has also said it will look to expand on the features available through the link up, and is asking players for feedback on the matter.
Last month Twitch released its own development tools to allow developers to add video sharing to their titles. The toolset includes an updated version of the Twitch SDK and support for Unity PC broadcasting.
