One of the Wii U’s flagship launch titles has been deemed a failure by its publisher Ubisoft.
ZombiU was a key pillar in the console’s launch line-up, ticking only not the box for mature gaming but also making good use of Wii U’s key functionality.
But Ubisoft chairman and CEO Yves Guillemot has told Games Industry that the game was not even close” to being profitable and that that are no plans – and the site adds not even a desire – to develop a sequel.
"We must find a way to ensure the creativity of those games could have a big enough audience," he stated. "We hope it will takes off. At the moment, we’ve said ‘let’s do through Christmas and see where we are from there’."
Guillemot also confessed that it was the poor performance of ZombiU that led to the at the time controversial decision to drop Rayman Legends’ Wii U exclusivity in favour of making it multiformat.
