OnLive iOS app still awaiting approval

In what could prove to be a dangerous game, it has emerged that OnLive went live with the press announcing the release of its iOS app before it actually went live on the Apple App Store.

And considering that Apple will be the one to decide on the fate of the software, can we be 100 per cent certain that the company will approve it?

"We’re not going to displace anything in the Apple store: we don’t have the games they have, and if there’s no internet connection, people will want to play games locally anyway," OnLive boss Steve Perlman told The Guardian.

They view us like anything else: they have Netflix on there that competes with iTunes. Our Viewer application for iPad has been featured in their New & Noteworthy section, so they seem to be alright with it."

The OnLive iOS app will allow subscribers to the service to play games included in their OnLive collection on their Apple device, provided they have a Wi-Fi connection.

This of course leads to the prospect of titles like LA Noire, Saints Row 3 and Batman: Arkham City being available on a portable device for the first time.
