iGames Announces Winner of The Club™ Launch Party Video Contest
Winner to Receive Alienware Area-51® m15x Laptop; Retail Value Over $2,600FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
Mountain View, CA, April 9, 2008—Leading game center organization iGames has announced the winner of its The Club™ Launch Party Video Contest. In-center filming took place on March 1 and 8, as part of the game launch party for SEGA’s eagerly anticipated third-person shooter created by critically acclaimed developer Bizarre Creations. Open to the 40+ participating iGames member centers in North America, the contest asked participating game centers to film the festivities and submit their video to iGames’s YouTube channel.
Of all the submissions received, the one that was judged the hands-down favorite by the judges both at SEGA and iGames– also the one that received the most public views and ratings– was the hilarious submission by eBash ( www.ebash.com) game center in Terre Haute, IN., which incorporated the dynamic run-and-gun atmosphere of the title into the mockumentary-style coverage of the launch party. All the finalists, including the winning entry from eBash, may be viewed at: www.youtube.com/iGamesvideos.
“It’s wonderful to see the gaming community get involved in such a direct way,” said Sean Ratcliffe, Vice President of Marketing at SEGA.“The level of creativity that this contest inspired was a pleasant surprise to the entire team. iGames has truly built an amazing network of talented and passionate people who know games, love games and also know when not to take them or themselves too seriously.”
“Online video has become the hallmark of Web 2.0,” said Mark Nielsen, Executive Director of iGames.“With this contest, we have not only shown the industry what our community can do, but what we can do for our partners to engage viral interest.” He added,“We are very happy with the results and know that this is the first of many great contests. In addition to SEGA, we would also like to thank all the game centers who participated and we congratulate eBash for their excellent winning entry.”
