Blood Bowl 2 update accidentally hides free items behind paywall

Focus Home Interactive’s Blood Bowl 2 caused a temporary stir yesterday when a price tag was attached to much of its free content.

An update for the game saw a number of free in-game items suddenly vanish and then reappear in the game’s store, complete with a cash price to unlock. As you might imagine, players of the title were unimpressed – vocally so.

Fortunately, the whole thing turned out to be nowt but a cock-up.

There was indeed a problem with the latest patch and it affected the game/store content,” developer Cyanide Studio said. We’re aware of the store content issue caused by the latest patch and are working quickly to resolve it. Jerseys that were previously free shall be free once more.”

It hasn’t yet been confirmed whether those who paid for the content – if indeed anyone did – will get a refund.

Blood Bowl 2, an adaptation of the Games Workshop board game, was released on Steam in September.
