Infinity Blade is the first title to bring Unreal Engine 3 to Apple's mobile platforms

Unreal Engine 3 arrives on mobiles

Epic’s Unreal Engine 3 will be making its debut on Apple’s mobile platforms with Infinity Blade.

The game was originally announced as Project Sword during the Apple Special Event in September.

Infinity Blade is a graphically intense action RPG for iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch, developed by Chair Entertainment, who are also responsible for Shadow Complex.

The game features sword battles and epic boss fights set in a fully 3D castle. As well as single-player, multiplayer has been promised as one of the planned free updates for the game.

“More than one million people have been introduced to the world of Infinity Blade through our free app, Epic Citadel, and soon everyone will be able to play our first fully featured game for iOS devices,” said Dr Michael Capps, president of Epic Games.

Epic Citadel was released as a technical demonstration of the Unreal Engine for iOS platforms.

“With Infinity Blade, Chair has created an amazing looking, incredibly fun game that really demonstrates the potential of triple-A mobile gaming.”

Infinite Blade is due to be released this holiday season.
