22nd December 2011

For the very first time, gaming fans of all ages will be able to check out the latest games in full 3D via their televisions as a new show, 3D Games Review launches on the Sky 3D channel. As 3D gaming continues to grow with the rise of interactive 3D content available across devices, this snack sized show, which hits TV screens this week, provides the perfect platform for 3D games to be reviewed as they should be – in glorious 3D.

With the demand for 3D games picking up pace in 2011, 3D Games Review will be a welcome arrival to gaming audiences. This two part show, a Sky 3D in house production, ensures gamers are fully immersed with a range popular 3D games, from action packed blockbusters to fun games for families to enjoy via the Sky 3D channel. With landscapes and characters becoming even more real thanks to stunning 3D technology, viewers tuning in can experience alternative worlds as if they were actually there.

3D Games Review, which is also shown on Challenge, is written by veteran games reviewers Johnny Minkley and Paolo Sedazzari. The first show, narrated by Johnny, kicks off with a review of the latest 3D games for all the family to enjoy such as Cars 2, while the second part delves into the 3D world of popular blockbusters including The Legend Of Zelda and Unchartered 3: Drake's Deception.

Johnny Minkley commented: "Gamers are early adopters of new technology so it's no surprise to see that video games play a big part in driving interest in stereoscopic 3D in home entertainment, just as they did with HD. Sky 3D is the perfect platform for showcasing 3D gaming where it belongs: shoulder-to-shoulder with the best in TV and film. To my knowledge, Sky is the first major broadcaster to highlight it in this way, capturing 3D footage directly from consoles to show games as they're meant to be seen. It's still early days for the technology in gaming, so this is a timely opportunity to give people a taste of what 3D can bring to interactive entertainment."

John Cassy, Sky 3D’s channel director commented: “We are delighted to announce the premier of 3D Games Review, a show which is a first for both Sky 3D and Challenge. The show offers consumers the opportunity to review some of the top 3D games hitting the market via the Sky 3D channel, resulting in a rich gaming experience for the whole family to enjoy.”

3D Games Review airs on Thursday 22nd, 24th and 27th December and throughout January on Sky 3D. For more information visit www.sky.com/3D
