A brand new social networking platform designed specifically for video gaming has launched at and its creators are inviting UK manufacturers, publishers and developers to get involved.

The site is the brainchild of Pixwoo CEO Pascal Vielhescaze and has been created to give everyone, from hardware manufacturers, publishers and developers, to social and casual gamers, a common platform for sharing their passion for games.

“Generic social networking platforms are fantastic for keeping in touch with friends and family, but do you really feel comfortable waxing lyrical about reaching level 85 in Guild Wars knowing that your boss is reading your updates? No. And that’s why big isn’t necessarily better when it comes to social networking. What is important is common interest– whether that’s gaming, or bird watching, or movies– and the ability to speak passionately without prejudice.”

With user targets of several hundred thousand within 12 months, Pixwoo is also a potentially fantastic promotional tool for the industry and Pixwoo is inviting UK organisations to become founding partners (this is free of charge).

“Being a partner allows organisations to set up a professional page on Pixwoo, claim ownership of games pages, communicate officially as the game master or yourself, and message the games’ fans directly. Partners also have comeback if they believe a user is posting offensive or illegal comments in relation to them or their IP. It also gives you the opportunity to reach thousands of gamers for free.

“But we appreciate how busy everyone’s lives are at the moment, so to alleviate the pressure we’re proposing to set up and run professional pages and games pages for UK partners for the first three months absolutely free of charge.”
