Appoint Solutions Builds HTML5 Mobile Game in Just Four Days Using CocoonJS From Ludei

BARCELONA, SPAIN--(Marketwire - Apr 27, 2012) - Today at DevUp in Barcelona, mobile games and applications developer Appoint Solutions announced that its newest game -- a mobile multiplayer game called Grabbit -- was created in just four days using the CocoonJS HTML5 accelerator from Ludei.

Grabbit is a mobile game with realtime multiplayer gameplay and interaction, and multichannel sound, all using HTML5 techniques. The game will be deployed to iOS, Android and Facebook with a single code-base and thanks to the acceleration provided by CocoonJS is running at a steady 60 fps.

"Once again Appoint Solutions has shattered the conventional thought that HTML5 is not yet ready for fast moving realtime online multiplayer games," said Rob Boerman, co-founder and CTO of Appoint Solutions. "In just a few short days we created another mobile multiplayer game completely with Javascript and HTML5 and running on Ludei's CocoonJS platform."

Grabbit is the second mobile multiplayer game created by Appoint Solutions using HTML5 and CocoonJS from Ludei. The first, MonsterMove, is available in the AppStore with Android and Facebook versions coming in a few weeks.

Along with CocoonJS, the speed of the game development also came from the developers creating re-usable building-blocks designed for creating new apps both on the client and server end. "The Grabbit project also served as a test that those building blocks, combined with a working CocoonJS setup, would really speed up development," explained Boerman.

"We thoroughly tested CocoonJS and experimented with a lot of different setups of both the game client and server," said Boerman. "Grabbit took only three of us (a graphical designer, server developer and myself as client developer) just four days to build. I think that is pretty awesome, especially if you consider that we were building another photo-game at the same time."

DevUp by Ideateca is the annual meeting for developers, Internet professionals and mobile application developers. Now in its 11th year, DevUp is focused on HTML5 and the future of mobile web development.
